ABOUT ELENA MAHONEY
I knew from a very early age that art was going to be a strong influence in my life and I have been fortunate to be able to always pursue my passions. Painting is my great obsession. I love the watercolor medium for layering, colors, and mostly transparency which appeals to my sense of spontaneity.
Because I was born in Russia, since childhood I was influenced by great Russian artists like Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, Ilya Yefimovich Repin, Vasily Ivanovich Surikov and many others. In school I learned about impressionism, and it became my guide to the world of art.
I hope my creations bring you joy and an increased appreciation for the medium and subjects of my paintings as much as it does for me.
