Learn to paint delicate roses in watercolor step-by-step with Nishtha!

Nishtha is renowned for her beautiful large watercolor paintings of roses. In this workshop she will share some of her watercolor secrets for success and guide you through the process of completing your own 12 x 12 painting of watercolor roses on special handmade watercolor paper. Using only two pigments you will learn many ways to apply them to bring your realistic watercolor painting of a rose to full bloom.

What You Can Expect

  1. Watercolor is a transparent medium, so we work from light to dark.
  2. Understand rose anatomy and geometry
  3. Learn and control the water to pigment ratios: Watery – for highlights, Milky – for midtones, and Thick – for dark regions
  4. We will learn watercolor techniques – Wet-on-dry – for sharp lines and Wet-on-wet – for soft edges
  5. Learn to preserve the white spaces using thin watercolor ratio
  6. Learn watercolor washes – for covering large areas and learn continuous transitions
    Three types that will be discussed – Flat wash, Graded wash and Variegated wash
  7. You will leave with a completed and matted painting

ABOUT NISHTHA AGARWAL

Nishtha is an Orlando-based visual artist, educator, and biomedical engineer whose work bridges the worlds of science and art. Raised with an analytical mind but driven by creative passion, she formalized her artistic training in India under the guidance of the eminent Delhi-based artist and educator, Professor Rohit Sharma.

Her artwork has been featured in solo and group exhibitions internationally. Notable showcases include a 2-day -solo exhibition – Purity and innocence and the group show Aarambh & Reflections at the prestigious India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. She was awarded MF Husain title by her bachelor institution, Manav Rachna, Haryana. She also received a certificate of excellence from India Habitat Centre. In the United States, her work has been exhibited at the Bridge Art Gallery in New Jersey and highly celebrated at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where she completed her academic studies.

Nishtha’s interdisciplinary background in biomedical engineering and pharmaceutical management deeply informs her creative process. She is proficient in diverse mediums, including colored pencil, soft pastels, watercolor, charcoal, oil, acrylic painting. As a passionate teaching artist, Nishtha has dedicated years to cultivating creativity across diverse age groups and skill levels. Her global teaching footprint spans virtual elementary classes during the pandemic, community sessions in Kurukshetra, India, and large-scale public workshops. Currently, she instructs local students both online and in-person at the Eden Ruby Lake Clubhouse in Orlando, where she also designs specialized events like thematic paint-and-sip workshops and community fair art programs. Nishtha remains committed to creating encouraging, lively environments where her students can discover their own artistic voices.
